The Technical Rescue Service was started in 1996 to, along with Newburyport, Ma., provide advanced rescue services. The members of this team are highly trained in building collapse, confined space, and high angle rescue. The Amesbury Fire Department has a Technical Rescue Trailer carrying simple ropes, air rams, structural supports, and more. Allowing rescue from the most dangerous areas, in a fast, efficient manor. There are 9 people on staff, supporting the tech rescue team, which work in conjunction with the Newburyport Fire Department to provide technical rescue for the region.
