The purpose of any arson investigation team is to find the origin and cause of a fire. Amesbury goes one step above that and provides the family with not only answers but help after a fire. The Arson investigation team has been working in Amesbury since the town had its first fire. It is critical not only to know how it happened, but more importantly if it could have been prevented.

The highly trained staff includes not only firefighters but some of the officers in the police department trained at detecting the burn patterns and whether or not there was an accelerant used to light the fire. If the fire is suspicious, the town can call on the State Fire Marshalls office to bring in dogs and other equipment.

Amesbury assists and is assisted by Newburyport, Salisbury, and Merrimac in the investigation of fires. If you have any questions you can email Deputy Chief of the Amesbury Fire Department at chief@amesburyfire.org.

The Team Members are:
    Deputy Chief Jon Brickett
    Police Officer Glen Chaput
    Police Officer Robert Chatigney
