Safety Awareness Fire Education

This service was started in 1990 to make children and adults aware of fire safety, and the dangers of fire. Children are taught how to react in a smoke filled environment, allowing them to see why it is important to crawl. They are shown potential fire hazards in the kitchen and general household areas. Also they are taught to make a plan of escape for thier own house, so they can get out safely if the house ever caught on fire.

To do this the SAFE program, has a SAFE trailor which is taken to schools and other functions where children are present. The trailor provides the necessary environment to simulate a smoke filled room and also various common household fires.

There are two members who coordinate all SAFE program, with all of the Amesbury Fire Department Staff getting involved at various times. The Town Of Amesbury works in conjunction with surrounding towns to provide this service to it's people.

You can contact the SAFE Education Program through email at safeeducation@amesburyfire.org or call the fire department and talk to Earl Morrill (Ozzie) at (978)388-1333.
