The Amesbury Fire Department enforces a yearly fire alarm/ sprinkler test. By properly checking and maintaining systems false alarms have been reduced by 40%. Once a year a notice is sent to the owner of the building to be tested. The owner then hires a private contractor to perform the test and fill out the necessary paperwork. After the paperwork is filled out it comes back to the fire deparment and is filed.

A private contractor is hired to make sure that all the alarms can be properly tested. Without this private/ public cooperation the fire department could never keep up with the manpower necessary to complete all the testing properly.
